In 2017 the Corbet School is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
Opening in 1957 for an estimated 250 pupils and serving the local community in Baschurch and the surrounding area, the school has expanded to provide a great education for approximately 700 pupils from age 11 to 16.
A school spokesman said: “The school has been rated as Good by Ofsted on both of its last two inspections, and consistently ranks highly in the Shropshire league tabes.
“Performance continues to be well above ‘National Averages’ confirming it and one of the best schools in Shropshire and across the wider West Midlands.
“The school has a long history of outstanding behaviour and excellent attendance which is the foundation for the consistently high achievement.
“The vast majority of Corbet students opt for further education, with a high percentage progressing to university.”
This year the Diamond Jubilee celebrations are giving testimony to the proud history created by former pupils, and looking forward to the success and opportunity offered to current and future pupils.
The Diamond Jubilee Festival held in May was a great success, and provided fun and entertainment for all the family.
The ‘Memory Walk’ displaying six decades of photographs was developed with the
help of many former pupils.
The celebrations are being used to raise funds in order to refurbish the science laboratories.
